About Watching Windmills

In today’s fast-paced, stress-filled world, meditation has become more important than ever as a tool for restoring balance and inner peace. With growing concerns over politics, work insecurity, cost of living, climate and health issues, many find themselves overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. Meditation offers a powerful antidote for helping individuals slow down, breathe, and cultivate a sense of calm awareness.

Watching Windmills is my rather simple metaphor for watching, observing or being aware of one’s thoughts as they whirl around within one’s mind. The phrase itself “Watching Windmills” resonated with me many years ago through a song called “The Windmills of Your Mind” and seemed appropriate as my “brand” intent.

My mindfulness meditation practices are based on the Mindful-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Mindfulness meditation involves being fully present and intensely aware of the current moment without interpretation or judgment.

The practices consist of :

  • Focusing on the breath – noticing the inhale and exhale.
  • Acknowledging distractions – when thoughts or emotions arise, gently noting them and returning attention to the breath.
  • Maintaining a non-judgmental attitude – accepting whatever arises without labeling it as good or bad.

I look forward to holding a space for you, so that you can further explore, understand and continue to develop a healthier relationship between yourself and this far greater shared experience we refer to as life.
